Never ceases to amaze me how many of those airfields were built in the UK. Within a 15 miles radius, I see at least three other WWII (or early Cold War) era airfields. Don’t really understand why this was completely removed and at what cost, just to turn it in agricultural land. And in the same radius, a couple of grass airfields are using up agricultural land (maybe not as much as was reclaimed here, as the triangular, triple runway layout uses up a lot of space).
Oh, and eh, I found the place by cheating, so won’t join the competition. But still eager to learn more about the place, and why this one was completely removed.
