Lost in translation...
Last year I ambled into a grocery store to buy some spaghetti. Hadn't shaved in a few days so looking a tad, well, scruffy!
¿Tiene pasta? I said to the shop assistant.
She looked worried and shocked. ¿Para comer? she replied obviously a bit nervous. Silly question I thought. What else would I do with pasta.
Afterwards it was explained to me that "pasta" is slang for money so she thought it was a hold up
