EASA part 66 licence rules ref Language?
Ok, can someone refresh my memory as there is an ongoing debate where I work regarding the EASA rules about being able to speak, understand, read & write in English.
If you are employed as a B1 or B2 LAE, in a company based in the UK that operates all it's documentation & manuals in English, plus all staff communication in English, it would seem to me that it is a fairly critical requirement to be able to read, write, speak & understand English.
Are the rules similar to pilot/ATC laws where the licence holder has to be proficient in English to an acceptable level graded 1-6?
Would it concern you that a safety critical role such as an LAE could be performed by a person not able to understand more than very basic English ( or indeed the very basic language of any organization across the EASA governed countries) , and is it even legal?
Looking forward to your responses. Nb this is purely for the safety & legal interest side of things.
