I don't think that the class of airspace around matters that much - Southend, Cranfield and Wycombe, to take a few, are all examples of airfields with ATC (i.e. you talk to
Tower rather than
Radio or
Information) located wholly within Class G airspace. You will need a clearance from all of them.
