the Swissair MD-11 improvements designed to enhance fire-safety and make SR-111 non repeatable (at least in those few aircraft that were modified). Neither Boeing nor the FAA would have a bar of this modification - as to have officially recognized it would have been to admit that the original MD-11 design -as certificated- was flawed.
