I can't see the point of the three month delay. Nothing gets replaced with a straight forward discectomy. You can occasionally get swallowing issues but if so this is apparent before discharge. This is a 2 hour operation, back to the ward, home the next day. I would consider you able to fly as soon as you can demonstrate adequate upper limb mobility and power. You may also need to be off certain painkillers. But is should be a week, two at most
Good luck. Choose an experienced spinal surgeon who doesn't do brains or orthopaedics and you should be fine
