G159

Sad indeed! That G159 was a familiar face at HKNW.For those of us who have flown the G159 from Wilson and JKIA all the more saddened.A marvelous and powerful machine it was.The ne I flew crashed in 2003 Busia (where it shouldn't have gone in the first place) carrying a Ministerial delegation..where one perished with my colleague pilots. There should be an Air Museum by now at Wilson..especially considering how long she has served us and that we commemorate it every year with an aeronautical display show.
In place of the Jet Pet 5Y-JET is now an ex FLY540 Blue with orange striped F27 freighter that crashed on takeoff on a test Flight. The F27 has been a good long servant at HKNW and perhaps this should be petitioned to be displayed in an open air museum.Air Kenya had a big fleet and so did Blue Bird (who now operate Fokker 50 and a Bombardier fleet of Dash and Qs.Theyare left with 2 Fokker 50.Blue Bird recently reduced one of its Fokker50s to a writeoff following a normal landing and overrun in Somalia.THERE MIGHT BE AN OLD dakota stowed away somewhere in Wilson which could also be used amongst a fleet of displays..notforgetting
