Hundreds of holes were being drilled at intervals along a highway to determine the depth of construction, underlying soil types, etc prior to reconstruction.
Found a really hard spot then the drill suddenly broke through into open air!
Operators looked around and realised they were standing on a bridge ....
You need more than just drawings and paperwork to stop this sort of thing happening.
