I do expect the current train situation to be resolved but whether that has to wait until 2016 when the current franchise expires or not remains to be seen.
I think a new franchise could be the answer to Southend's prayers. The new Thameslink rail franchise includes a requirement for more night trains to serve Luton Airport and stipulates that there must be a minimum of two trains per hour arriving at Luton Airport Parkway between 3am and 6.59am. I am sure Stobart will be pushing for a requirement to be included in the franchise document when rail companies tender for the contract
