By axial, do you mean thrust loads? i.e. along the longitudinal axis of the engine?

On a 777, the AFT mount takes care of that, via the thrust links. Those would be those two effing great links that connect the intermediate case (on a RR) or LPC case on a GE90, to the aft mount. (I have no idea about PW engines)

That's also the reason that even though the front of the engine is heavier, and thats where the trust-producing fan is, you'll notice that the aft mount is twice as big and has twice as many bolts, and also has those two huge dowels.

I've never worked on a 747, so I can't help you there.
