This is all smoke and mirrors. The loss can be attributed to a few "one off" expenditure items, and temporary lack of cashflow in some business units.
The appeal for gov assistance and mass redundancies is more opportunistic than anything else. The hierarchy know this, and are also prepared for the profit numbers to turn around quickly as time marches on.
Resultantly the Irishman (or any other management for that matter) will definately not fall on their sword and look like a failure now, they will wait until the business turns around. They will then leave looking like heros, not failures. Reputations depend on this.
Any other expectations from those who are posting on here is pure wishful thinking.
