I fly out of San Carlos (KSQL) about 25 mins north of San Jose. I can recommend
Diamond Aviation there.
There are two other small airlfields nearer to San Jose: Reid Hillview (KRHV) or Palo Alto (KPAO).
Both of these have at least 2 clubs/schools,so your spoiled for choice!!
