Hi, I am Kevin and i am new here but i have been reading this forum for some time to search for information for my CX and KA test. Even tho i failed both of the test within a month but i hope that i would be able to assist other to success by posting what i have been through for the past month.I am sure people have posted this information out already, but i am hoping to provide new addition information to help those who are in need. I am going to point out and give some personal suggestions that i don't think the other posted unless i misread any. Feel free to contact me for any question

Before you read this, i am sorry if it confused you. I ain't too good in explaining so i tried my best in posting this reply

CX process: They will give you around 1 month of time in warning before they call you up for the interview. Between the times, CX will send you a JKL package to study for the tests. The tests will be a aptitude test and a compass test.( my test was in 10/02/14)

Aptitude test: tbh, the test i got are barely based off the JKL they sent you. i would say 50% is based on or related to the JKL package, 10% is based on company 's fleet and history and 40% is based on Geography and basic aviation knowledge( the terms they use will be a bit tricky but if you READ CLEARLY before you answer than you should be fine). The % may varies but its around there, the part i remember the most is that the last 1~1.5 page which is about 7 questions r the company's fleet and history.

Compass test: the entire process can probably be found in other's post so i am not going to add too much detail. The things that i do want to point out is that the math part of the compass test consist of many questions, please shoot for accuracy of the question instead of just rushing throught. Also, i would strongly suggest that u purchase a pedal and a joystick to increase you chance in successfully passing this test.

After thought: from an personal stand point, i believe that i didn't do too well in the math and the first part(RBI and 2 other instrucment). I kinda knew that i won't pass after i finished the test. Even thought they didn't take me, they did tell me to reapply in 6 month time. Based on the reply, i can say i did a bit below standard cause the answer usually comes in 6,12 and never.

DragonAir: i really appericate their HR department because it was effective and held a good manner while answering your question. They sent me the invitation letter while i was in HK for the CX test already so we quickly worked out a solution which was great.

heres a link for those who understands chinese, the second page will show the procedure that KA take while hiring cadet( i cannot guarantee 100% true):

KA Cadet Pilot Program ´§¤â + µo°Ý°Ï - ¯èªÅ - *»´ä°Q½×°Ï discuss.com.hk - ¤@*Ó*»´ä¥u±o¤@*Ó*»´ä°Q½×°Ï

Initial test: click the above link. The grammar part is quite easy, as long u past high school(in Canada) than i am sure you will be fine.(and please excuse me for having poor grammar in this post). 1st part of the listening test is also quite easy , you just have to listen and circle the correct word. 2nd part of the listening is probably 1 of the 2 hardest part of the test, u will listen to 3 seperate passages that last about 1~2 min each. Please remember as much as possible when you are listening. Finally the math part, this is considered one of the hardest part to me because of the time restriction, not the questions asked. The math test will last 30 minute and have 7 questions, the math is quite plain and simple but time consuming. The key is to look through the the test before you start and answer the easier questions first to achieve the highest %.(19/03/14)

Initial test~aptitude test: the only thing i hate about Dragonair is that they don't bother telling you if you failed, but i do have to show my apperication to them again because they are willing to fast track me to the next stage so i don't have to wait that long.(standard is within 4 week, and i got the news in the day after. In a standard procedure and if you pass, you will probably get the news within 10 days.)

Aptitude test: the link above covered all and it matches completely. Unlike the initial, i don't have much to add because it pretty much covered all. I do want to point out part 5,7,8,9 and 10 on the forum because thats the part i had major difficulty with. it seems a lot but 5~9 is really just 1 part, the person did a great job explaining in detail but i just want to point that out. Also, i want to point out that i had trouble with part 10 aswell, this is kinda key and i do want to make sure no 1 failed like me: as your plan flys through the square, be sure i don't touch the line and stay within the square. When your planes touchs the beam line= u didn't enter the square.

Heres my persoanl score for the test: some section will show you a mark but some just won't, but as you are taking the test, you will probably have a good sense of idea where u failed and where u did good.

r stands for right and w stands for wrong

(1) get two line into center>7/10-8/10-8/10
(2)shape in picture- unknownx3( i think i did good)
(3)object and position in picture -unknownx3(i think i did good)
(4)object and color-9(r)3(w)-9(r)1(w)-10(r)1(w)
(5)get two line into center and number-6(r)8(we)
Get two line into center and color and shape-9(r)1(w)
All together-8(r)10(w)
(6)flying plane into square-4/10-5/10-5/10

i am sorry if the above socres seems confusing but i am too lazy to pin point every part.

Afterthought(skipable): Tbh, i came to Hk to do the CX and i thought i would atleast pass stage 2, but the sad truth is that i didn't even pass 1A. The result of that is a huge disappointment, but i was able to "let it go" after awhile. Althought i was confident but i prepared myself for the worst and had a back up plan= continue my study in Canada, so i wasn't too frustrated. The huge downfall for me is that KA called me in for a suprise and i was pretty shocked(tbh, i forgot that i even applied to KA because they havent replied in so long. I still remember it but i was just kinda suprised that they would call you for the test in such a hurry.). So i past inital test cause its pretty easy and ignited my hope to be a pilot, but i kinda knew that i didn't make it after the aptitude test because like i said: u kinda know if you did good or bad after the test. I was worried for a week as my parents , family and friend said that i did fine/good , but the fact is that i failed. This sad reality kinda crushed me not because of i failed, but because of knowing this will probably be the only chance for me to become a commerical pilot. My family isn't well off or even average in wealth and i am really thankfull that they let me taking the chance. Knowing the fact that the family(parent are really old) and financial pressure will be crushing on me made me tried even more when i did my test, specially for KA one because it was a suprise. But i guess what is meant to be are just not what is meant to be. As i am writing down this post with heart full of regret and self hatred. I would like to warn you to prepare for the worst and hope you find this post helpful.

GG everyone, i ain't done with planes but i am probably done as a commerical pilot.
