Over at FZ we get 6 weeks of annual leave which has to be taken in minimums of 1 week chunks.
Leave bids are entered into the system in October (for the following year) and are granted on a seniority basis. It's a bidding process that involves several cycles of bids.
Annual leave tickets can be taken either as a ticket or cash in lieu (though quite how they determine the cash in lieu value has never been revealed).
We can also bid, as part of the normal rostering process, to have (upto) 4 days-off immediately in advance of a leave period, and have that followed by (upto) 4 days-off immediately after the finish of the leave period. The likelihood of getting those wrap-around days-off is, of course, much dependent upon ones seniority number.
Depending upon ones seniority, one can do very nicely lifestyle wise at FZ (especially when it comes to ones leave), proof of which is that I'm presently on leave as I type this, as result of getting precisely the leave I bid for, and including an additional 4 days-off on either side.
Fwiw, I gave up relying on standby / staff-tickets / ID90 / ID50, years ago.... and now only travel home for leave on firm seat basis, and do so with any airline except those from Middle East, wherein I refuses to use my annual leave ticket money to subsidies their profits!
