Never heard of V max distance!!!
Range = How Far = Distance
Having said that I gave a very quick, oversimplified response.
I tend to think of Drag = Thrust = Power, and the last is not correct.
I do have a diagram to illustrate, but I have no idea how to insert it.
So am now excusing myself from this thread.
