16/34 is no problem for 757/767/A332 (A321 is actually more restricted than A332 due to lower surplus of power and less braking power relative to weight due to single axle main gear).

I strongly suspect that 777 was not particularly full or had relatively little cargo on board. A Boeing 777-200ER needs 8,000 feet / 2,438 meters of runway at mean sea level in calm winds with air conditioning off and zero runway gradient on an ICAO standard day (15 degrees celcius, QNH 1013.25 hpa and density of 1.225 kg per meter squared) at MTOW. 777-300ER probably needs even longer. A 20kt headwind is a pretty big help too!
