I doubt this incident would happen in an Asian carrier as it involved disconnecting the A/P and the A/T and operating the speedbrake at high altitude! This seems to be a situation when you
shouldn't be practicing your manual flying skills. There is a memory item to cover this situation, the crew should just have followed that.
