My wife was made to resign as cabin crew after she became pregnant.
They were very quick to start (wrongly) deducting little bits here and there from what was going to be her final gratuity.

Until we pointed out to them that she was going to be staying in Dubai on my visa and that because just a month before she fell pregnant she had been given her housing allowance, we technically owed Emirates money.
We then suggested to them that until they worked out the correct gratuity owed, we would be in no rush to pay them back the housing allowance. It helped that one of the HR minions at EGHQ had accidentally issued a 'no money owed' letter meaning that we were able to get my wife a visa through me before they realised that we actually owed them money.
Funny old thing, everything got sorted extremely quickly after that.
A very small victory, granted. But satisfying nonetheless.
