For example QF owns 'Snapfresh'.
I haven't seen a figure for the amount of people that work for the actual mainline airline component. It suits joyce not to quote this figure.
The total employee workforce also includes people who are on maternity leave. Due to the large amount of female flight attendants. There are hundreds of them on maternity leave at any given point in time.
I do however agree with you on the worker to supervisor ratio. At 2.1 to 1 its a joke.
