A choice between Mr Squiggle, Clive Palmer, Alan Joyce and a box of rusty nails for Qantas CEO, it would be a toss up between the rusty nails and Mr Squiggle. I would probably lean towards the nails.
Clive is not financially strong. Clive bought BHP's Queensland Nickel Refinery and they put VERY strict conditions on the sale because they didn't want any fallout from bad publicity if Clive screwed it up. Like Qantas it had (to you and I and Clive) a mountain of cash. BHP required that cash stay in the business, which Clive thought unnecessary. To get around that he used the working capital from the Townsville Refinery to buy a number of 'investments' to 'diversify' the risk of the Nickel Refinery.
One such 'investment' is the notorious Palmer Coolum. One could only imagine what he might do if he got his hands on Qantas with testimonies like these:
