I have flown for 4 airlines including QF. To suggest that the piloting standards are higher or the training is to a higher quality in legacy carriers is complete rubbish. You do your cyclics, your CRM, your EPs etc etc just like every other airline.
Mind you QF have had some big failures in recent memory all of them they got out of unscathed.
