It was widely known Concorde became very profitable for BA when Concorde Division was formed, HMG wrote off the debts and they got G-BOAF/G for one shiny British pound each. The fleet had an operating profit but the cost base was climbing as the aircraft aged and with the added complications of the kevlar tanks.
