My GS and VS is far greater than the other aircraft. Had it been higher workload for the ATC I may not have been so lucky.

yeah and the young Airline pilot was not any help either, and it was his backyard! But we did hear the call eventually......sadly it might have been the thrid attempt
And we were in VMC and at the correct level.
