Would have to agree that Qantas has been badly managed.
The job cuts should have occurred years ago - they only weren't because of the beneficial influences of SARS, 9/11, Ansett and other external influences which have covered how costly a legacy had built up.
The processes which the company operates by would, in an ideal world, have been rigorously analysed, waste eliminated and excess staff dealt with via attrition rather than expensive redundancy payouts.
The result of this would have been key strategic capability could have been retained with the processes approaching leading levels of performance. Unfortunately management aren't that clever and neither are the unions who want everything but give nothing in return.
