The Next Fad
Back in the '80s all the American commuter airlines were using 19 seat turbo-props. Then they moved to bigger t-props. Then 50-seat jets. Now they can't dump the 50-seaters fast enough. With the latest 'regional' jets rivaling the mainline planes, what's the next fad? Has the country and the industry really changed so much that what used to be profitable now is not? Is everyone merely copying everyone else, in an effort to not be the one who missed the bus? Is there anyone, anywhere in airline management, who has any idea what he's doing?
