Nathan Safe, president of the Australian and International Pilots Association, said it would support changes to the Qantas Sale Act, "but only if those amendments are wholly aimed at boosting the economic and social usefulness of Qantas to Australia".

The Australian and International Pilots Association said it had been pushing for the Sale Act to be revised to “level the aviation playing field” over the past week. It said it welcomed Mr Hockey’s call for a “national conversation” about it.
AIPA president Nathan Safe said Virgin’s freedom to attract foreign capital streams left “no doubt that Virgin currently enjoys an unfair advantage over Qantas”.
“This isn’t good for competition and it isn’t good for Australian aviation,” he said.
