CITYJET COMMITS TO CARDIFF AIRPORT

Published: 27 January 2014
Chief Executive of CityJet, Christine Ourmičres, has expressed the company’s commitment to Cardiff Airport after the airline began operating Glasgow and Paris flights from the Welsh capital.
On 20th January, CityJet began flying from Cardiff to Glasgow and Paris; from the start of the summer schedule on 30th March, flights to Edinburgh and Jersey will be added too.
“We decided to invest in Cardiff as we saw a unique and exciting business opportunity to introduce CityJet services from Wales, and introduce a mini-hub to our overall network”, said Ms Ourmičres.
“With Flybe withdrawing their Glasgow and Paris routes from the region, we knew we could introduce a much needed service to Scotland, France and Jersey for the community in Cardiff, Wales and the south west. We believe that our aircraft perfectly complements the demand of the region, and are offering a better, more enticing schedule to meet the demands of travellers.”
Flights to Edinburgh and Jersey are now available to book, along with all flights to Glasgow and Paris, at cityjet.com.
Ms Ourmičres continued: “A first positive sign that our introduction of Cardiff services are being well received is that in the short time that we’ve announced and started service, our overall Twitter followers have increased by 10 percent! We’re very happy to be here and look forward to our relationship with Cardiff Airport being a long and fruitful one.
“As an independent regional airline, we leverage our core strengths: innovation, flexibility and the ability to listen. This allows us to provide a personal service to our passengers’ needs, and seek out opportunities for us a company; Cardiff is the perfect example.”
Chief Executive of Cardiff Airport, Jon Horne, commented: “We’re really pleased to welcome another new airline to Cardiff and our relationship with CityJet has already proven itself to be productive. We’re delighted this provides a new and improved schedule for customers who rely on us for travel to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Paris and Jersey.
“CityJet’s flexible approach, adapting its services to match the needs of customers in the regions fits perfectly with our own, and we’re sure they’ll be popular with local people who want the convenience of travelling to and from Cardiff for both business and pleasure".
