Not really. The house (and other allowances) is only for as long as you are in the job.
You'd still need to either save or be paying a mortgage for your retirement from the job.
The amount of money NATS (for instance) pays into the CAAPS pension for an individual would mean for many, looking purely at cold hard numbers, financially it didn't stack up.
Of course it isn't all about the money, and different people have different, equally valid, views.
I know that It would need to be a lot more than $10k a month to persuade me to jump ship.
