If you've been out of things for a while then why renew your IR without doing the market research first? I've never understood why people do things this way round?
Good luck, anyway, and one thing, the "in person" thing can really work against you if you just rock up and expect the chief pilot to drop everything for you. The amount of times I've been dragged out of meetings and briefing rooms and had flights delayed because some stranger whose ink isn't dry on the licence was told that you must walk in and demand to see the chief pilot in person ... and then the covering letter for the resume says "Dear Sir"

So ring and make an appointment and if they say they don't need anyone then they don't need anyone.
