The only people who will look "utterly pedantic" is the airport and management if they had to count the Santa flights. SNN usually gets a lot of diversions per year at times but there is no way 11,500 pax were made up over 8 weeks and the majority of diverts only picked up fuel and at the same time SNN lost some flights to other airports as well. The capacity was not there in the last two months for much growth to come. They are only mugging themselves and the media off.
