There isn't much transparency in this country so people have every right to when question the figures. There is no smoke without fire or in this case no passenger increase without Santa flights. Up to October 1,214,775 pax used the airport. Now if you took the 2012 figures of November and December that would add 173,854 passengers which would take it to 1,388,629 for 2013 so do people believe that November and December actual numbers took it to 1,400,032 that would be growth of just under 11,500 passengers when Aer Lingus took out over 1,260 seats from LHR per week for most of that period, Aer Arann based a 42 instead of a 72. I don't recall increase by FR. Take the Santa flights away (if they were counted) and you have next to no increase in numbers overall for the year. Yes terminal passengers excluding the Santa flights may be up for the last two months year on year but the annual number wouldn't be.
You don't count diverted flights as majority just landed too some fuel and returned to airports.
