more of a student story but it involves a Gazelle so what the heck...
Going through RAF Shawbury rotary training a while (!) ago, during the night flying phase. We were doing our night navex dual then solo, when solo we had to call ATC with our position, comnditions etc. I was airborne with my instructor and my mate was off solo. We heard him pipe up on the radio
"Gazelle 3*, overhead turning point 4 in driving rain"
(can't remember the real callsign)
my instructor burst out laughing and remarked:
"at 90 knots all rain is driving rain"
well it was funny at the time...
