Sounds like a "dry joint" somewhere (a soldered connection that has failed, probably due to the temperature cycling of repeatedly being switched off and on.) In the "good old days", TV repair men were pretty good a spotting and fixing these, nowadays, a new one is probably going to be cheaper and more reliable...
