Allow me to save the c'ttee some time:
  1. In 2013, the UK had a damp summer, a wet winter and a wet December, with two periods of high levels of rain and storm.
  2. The ground had become saturated so that any more rain would simply run off and cause flooding.
  3. It rained.
  4. It flooded.
  5. Due to the location of LGW on a flood plain - it got flooded.
  6. The electricity staff (supply and LGW staff) all worked through their Xmas break to get things back to normal.
  7. Everyone pulled their weight.
  8. A few Pax bitched (wot's new?)
  9. The tabloids said silly things (wot's new?)
  10. The problem could have been prevented if the Govt of 1952 that decided on the aiport's development and placing had foreseen:
    > The big change to our climate
    > The big development of the airport
    > The big demand for electricity
    > That they were building on a flood plain.
  11. Could anything have been done to prevent it? No.
  12. Could it happen again? Yes.
  13. Can we prevent it happening again? Yes.
  14. How much £££? A lot and the pax would have to pay.
  15. "My hardworking family constituents need their holidays and cannot be expected to pay more money for splugle blarph..."
  16. Report Conclusion: Lessons have been learned.

Oh and my fee for the report? A mere 69 days of investigation, admin support, expenses to visit the site and get in the way of hard working constituents working for their holidays. Modesty forbids me from publishing my humble fees in this public forum.

(PAXboy is available for consultation and chairing of govt committees, especially those about which he knows nothing. Which rules him out from aviation has he knows a little about it.)
