I can tell you first hand that Hong Kong does not need yet more low cost traffic. HKG people want widebodies carrying business passengers, not A320s full of cheapskates, bogans and Chinese mainlanders.
Someone better tell CX then, they have added a significant amount of 320's to KA and a net gain of 1-2 330's in the last 2 years. CX seem to think that the 320/321 works well in their regional business model, expanding new markets and increasing frequency.
And interestingly, all the old haunts of the asian gweilo are now being overrun by Chinese mainlanders with money to spend..... so I think CX want mainlanders in the back of their 320's.
