It's more the distance, it's flying a "standard" long haul flight twice just top get there and the same on the way back, however they're not able to charge twice the price for the pleasure. However they can get that revenue by using the aircraft into a market where it can be more productive each day, charging a higher price per passenger for the distance traveled without the need to slip crews or refuel en route.
