Adding further fuel to the multitude of conspiracy theories - what is the advantage of going so publicly to the Libs? They espouse free markets and of the two main parties, far less likely to stump up any cash. Surely Joyce would appreciate this?
Did he really expect a kinder reception from them than from Bowen? Is this all part of the plan- throw hands in the air- "I did my best everyone". Now there is no alternative but to take whatever rescue from wherever it comes.
Token comment from Bowen this morning signals that Labor wants to be on the record as saying help is a good idea, yet they weren't too keen when they were in Govt.
Who would want to be presiding over a government that sees the national carrier's demise? Yet who wants to be responsible for the heavy price needed to pay to save it?
Just ask Holden and Ford workers how that would make them feel. These guys were prepared to take a pay/conditions cut to save their company.
