I'm under the belief that the twist grips were not only rolled off during whatever happened, but total engine(s) shutdown was completed on the throttles at the same time.
If this is correct, the foresight and further actions by Capt Traill (RiP) at what must have been a horrific time, were outstanding feats of airmanship that undoubtably in my mind, saved many many more lives that evening.
