Locals are limited to 1kg of meat per person per day. Import duty and VAT (8.5%) on any excess. As a non resident I'm guessing that a reasonable amount would not be questioned but note:

Foodstuffs ready to eat and non-alcoholic beverages for the day of travelling
Meat is expensive here, but is of very good quality. If you will be staying somewhere close to the border, do what the locals do, shop in the neighbouring country.
Some British products available here mainly in the Coop (2nd largest chain).
