Linux Mint/Win 8 dual boot
I have decided to add a Linux Mint dual boot feature to a laptop which came with Win 8 pre-installed. I really don't like the Win 8 but need to keep it handy as I am the first line of help for a friend with the same machine but who is less PC savvy than I am. I need to dive in and play to solve his problems as I am not really up to speed with Win 8.
I have found a comprehensive explanation of the process you follow to get to the dual boot situation.
Just a question or two:
If it all goes to plan and both systems can co-exist, will the Win 8 be able see files in the Linux partition and vice versa?
I guess what I really want to know is, if the machine ingests any trojans/virus/malware in one OS will the other be protected?
Should one boot fail, will the other be able to recover any data files/picures/videos/documents etc?
Ta for reading to here,
