Question

Does the National Minimum Wage (NMW) apply here?. .I am not an expert on the NMW, but my thoughts & queries are as follows:-. .Just because work is described as "work experience" does not automatically make it exempt from the regulations on NMW. Work Experience that is exempt from the NMW, is usually short periods of a few weeks that are linked to an educational course at a school or college.. .6 months work on a five day week of about 40 odd hours/week would come to about £4,500. benefits in kind, such as "free" flight training cannot be deducted before calculating the NMW payable to the worker. Nor can "free" accommodation when the employer dictates the place of work.. .Does anyone out there understand the NMW regulations, or can shed any light on this matter?
