South Lantau has definitely become a bit wild west over the past few years. Some colleagues have had their homes burgled numerous times, including finding mainland thieves inside. Some have resorted to keeping the alarm on for window and doors while they're home during the daytime. Rural, yes. Safe, not as much as one would think.
