Laptop display -- 1024x768 or 1400x1050 ?

I have an IBM T-series laptop computer with a 14.1" 1024x768 display. I will be upgrading and thought I should choose a 1400x1050 display option.

I read the higher resolution displays are good for graphics, but I'm not doing graphics. I do a lot of text and word processing, including reading documents (MS Word and Adobe PDF) on the screen for my work, and think the higher resolution will make for easier reading.

I am confused, though, by comments that the higher resolution will "make the text smaller." Here is how I see it. Yes, the text will be smaller, all other things equal. But, I can make the text larger by increasing the zoom. Even Windows system font size can be changed. So, I should be fine with the 1400x1050 display on a 14.1" screen.

Right?
