Dear readers,

at this stage I hold a FAA validation PPL/SEP/MEP/VFR Medical Class 1 based on foreign license.

In the meantime since this validation was issued I did an EASA C525 SP and MP type rating.

FSDO told me, that this C525 type rating can be put onto my FAA certificate, though only for private use and VFR only.

Taking this a bit further, I know that there is the possibility to take the IFP=Instrument Foreign Pilot written test or the complete IR written test. Would be issued on validation as "US IR TEST PASSED":

The difference seems to be:

IFP has about 20 questions less than unrestricted IR test.
IFP requires IPC checkride afterwards though no oral exam.
IPC checkride can be conducted with CFI and does not need to be an DPE.

The questions that I have at this stage:

1. Is it possible to take complete IR written test for unrestriced license though primary having it on the validation? (Aiming to obtain unrestricted CPL/IR later on)
2. Does the IPC need to be done BEFORE showing up at the FSDO to have IR issued based on foreign license?
3. Is there any easier/quicker way that legalizes to log hours as PIC on a N registered C525 flying private operation?

Many thanks in advance for your useful answers.

Alex
