Sadly for you FDF your incessant dreaming about another bit of tarmac being given the go-ahead in this parliament have been quashed as both new junior ministers at the DoT are not known for thier love of the idea. As for the next election who knows; at the minute it is looking like a another hung one. So start buying those shares in KLM as UKPLC goes bankrupt due to not having those 10% of passengers spending money in duty free
Who knows, far too early to say, who knows, 5, 10, 20 years down the line you could be eating your hat as I had to over AI at BHX.

BTW, it's not "incessant dreaming about another bit of tarmac being given the go-ahead". It is about common sense and commercial reality of staying in the premier league or relegation to the west Middlesex sunday league. It's as simple as that.

The Davies Commision has said today they are leaning towards more runway capacity needed in the South East. If they conclude that, rightly of course, then commercial reality kicks in. There is no question of starting this parliament as the commsion reports after the next election allowing the incoming government to take an unpallatable political decision an blame an "independent" report.

T'was ever thus.
More runway capacity in the south east is effectively what the Commission was set up for. They have to decide between
1. common sense and reality (LHR expansion);
2. a fudge (LGW/STN expansion instead of LHR expansion);
3. a vanity project (a completely new airport e.g. Thames estuary);
4. the status quo (continue to do nothing).
