I'd like to be optimistic as well Jack but what ever way we read it the traffic has been on a downward trend since 2009 and the reasonable start to 2013 has been somewhat of a false dawn.

Early this year it was predicted that we'd see growth at Cork in 2013 but by Easter that hope had disappeared when Wizz withdrew from all of it's Cork routes and the peak schedule of EIR was somewhat less than that of 2012.

Now we're growing for growth in 2014 but on what basis? The only positive news so far is Aer Arann's statement some months ago that they may base a 3rd ATR here. I've learned to wait for timetables to be loaded before assessing the impact of statements like this.

Of course Shannon's collapse has been far more dramatic and all the positive spin and press statements won't give them an increase in 2013.

On the other hand Dublin is the one airport that looks to be on the way back up.
