Cathay increases flights to Oz

This cut from Ben Sandilands twotter feed regarding CX increasing services by the end of March 2014-----

The Cathay Pacific schedule changes, all using Airbus A330-300s, lift the total number of flights from Australia from 70 now to 74 from about the end of next March, subject to government approvals.

However in the process Cathay Pacific has also eliminated the time consuming routing of some Adelaide flights to Hong Kong via Melbourne.

Adelaide’s seven CX services a week via Melbourne to four Adelaide-Hong Kong nonstops. Melbourne will have three flights all non-stop each day on the route. Brisbane will have 11 services a week but four of these will stop in Cairns, which will have four non-stop weekly flights to Hong Kong.

The current schedules with four flights a day from Sydney and 10 flights a week from Perth to the SAR will remain unchanged. Cathay Pacific has indicated that it wants to serve Sydney’s growth in passenger numbers but will probably rely on taking delivery of larger jets to do this in coming years.
