777 vs 340
Could someone explain to me very simply why the A340 is disastrously thirsty compared with a 777? Are bigger engines that much more efficient? Or is there a terrible amount of drag from each engine?
Is there absolutely nothing Airbus could have done to prolong the life of the 340?
Is the fuel consumption of the 340 so bad that no one could buy one of Emirates' 345s, now being parted out, for its scrap value and compete against a 777?
