Intriguing photo in that BBC article (3/4) of a VC-10 refuelling what looks like a US Navy EA-6B.
Perhaps in the US at a Redflag exercise ? Or failing that over Italy/ex-Yugoslavia during the Hostilities there.
How sad that there wasn't any flying done during the UK 2013 airshow season (to my knowledge) as a tribute to the aircraft's service over the years, not least it's beautiful form and the sound of it's engines.
