Get off his case, for f***'s sake. I have also had to indicate to CC, adding a wee bit of knowledge by showing an ID, that refueling was not complete and therefore they should not be closing the doors in one case and pointing out the aircraft had a serious fuel leak in another! I never thought that this meant I was "full of myself."
....and neither did the cockpit crew later!
